CHARLIE LUXTON

Charlie is an architectural designer who combines his design work with writing and presenting television programmes.

Charlie began his broadcasting career presenting a six part series, Modern British Architects for Channel 5. Since then he has gone on to present Britain’s Hidden Heritage (BBC 1), Restored to Glory (BBC 2), Homes and Property (ITV), World’s Weirdest Homes (Channel 4), Build A New Life In The Country (C5) and Homes By The Sea and Homes By The Med (More 4), Building The Dream (More 4) and Impossible Builds (More 4). His latest series, The Great British Home Restoration, is set to air on More 4 this year.

He has also worked across the Atlantic presenting Artland USA (Gallery HD & Sky Arts) and Vertical City.

Charlie is passionate about sustainability and architecture. He is interested in creating architecture fit for the 21st century; designs that respond to local materials, traditions and climate.

He is the principle of Charlie Luxton Design (CLD), an architecture firm of twelve that specialises in sustainable buildings.

Working on projects that range from Community led housing, through to re-wilding visitor experiences, recording studios and one off homes CLD always seek to deliver sustainable architecture to the highest standard.

In 2023 CLD were part of the gold medal/Best in show winning team at RHS Malvern with ‘Wilder Spaces’ and won the Sustainability Prize for the AJ small project wards with Black Barn Studios.

Charlie has recently been appointed as an Ambassador for the Plunkett Foundation, a charity that supports rural community businesses across the UK.
